This residence stands on a dramatic bluff-top at The Sea Ranch, on the Sonoma Coast just south of Gualala, California. The Hogans' house required the living space to be placed at the upper level to take advantage of the 180 degree view of the ocean. In order to make it a pleasure to walk upstairs, we decided to make a generous stairwell with carefully placed view windows looking in various directions. The guest house accommodates additional family while assuring them privacy from the main house.
